Antique 14K Gold Cannetille Pearl Lapel Stick Pin
About the Item
This antique 19th century stick pin is made of 14 karat gold and seed pearls. This beautiful stick pin is made of fine cannetille work, which is applied on top of the pin. The cannetille work is skillfully handcrafted and gives the impression of lace or fine embroidery. The stick pin is embellished with twenty-three lustrous pearls around the border and in the center.
The stick pin belongs to the regional dress in the Netherlands from around 1900. These pins were worn in pairs and were pushed backwards into the hat above the forehead needle on both sides between the curls of the ear iron. These types of jewels represent a varied and rich historical Dutch cultural heritage, worn by women in some parts of the Netherlands. It was part of the regional costume.
The stick pin is in very good condition. Marked and tested as 14 karat gold.
