The impressive large graduated rounded curb chain links are individually hallmarked with the 9ct gold fineness marks (9 and 375). The yellow gold Albert watch chain is fitted at either end with a swivel catch. The chain is fitted with a central rounded ring loop, from which a hallmarked T-bar suspends. The T-bar is hallmarked with the 9 ct gold fineness mark (9.375), the Birmingham Assay Office hallmark (anchor) and the maker's mark (JM). By virtue of its length, this impressive example of antique jewellery may be wrapped multiple times around the wrist to be worn as a bracelet. The oval frame is ornamented with applied rope twist decorated semi-circular motifs incorporating applied trefoil designs in addition to applied spiral twist decoration encircling both the cabochon and the border around the brooch. This fine and impressive unusual Victorian brooch has been crafted in 15ct yellow gold with 15ct white gold settings. The gate style brooch is ornamented with four individually 15ct white gold collet set Dutch cut diamonds at each of the four crossbars, totalling 0.04ct. The brooch is embellished with a 15ct yellow gold trellis design to the centre, accented with an applied hot enamel motif depicting two pink roses with foliage to either side.
