Belle Epoque Natural Pearl and Diamond Sautoir Necklace

About the Item

A Belle Epoque natural pearl and diamond sautoir necklace, centred with an openwork plaque of geometric design, encrusted with swiss-cut diamonds and pearls, suspending two pear-shaped pearls and a diamond bead terminating to a tassel, the scroll-designed top of the tassel suspending a fringe of three diamond-encrusted rows and six graduating rows of natural pearls, all hung from a long mesh chain of natural seed pearls and twenty one old-cut diamonds, accompanied by GCS Report stating that the four hundred and twelve pearls are natural of saltwater origin, the diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 7 carats, all mounted in platinum, bearing Austrian platinum import marks, circa 1915, the chain measuring approximately 62cm in length, gross weight 41 grams. A Belle Epoque necklace in perfect condition. An exquisite early twentieth century natural pearl and diamond sautoir necklace. The mesh chain is set with lustrous pearls and glinting diamonds. Hung from the chain is a gorgeous geometric plaque set with further dazzling diamonds from which is suspended an impressive pearl tassel fringe. The overall effect of this piece is one of romance and splendour. This piece, which comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, is emblematic of the period between the turn of the century and the beginning of Art Deco style: it is elegant and graceful and makes a wonderful statement. Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping. Please note: because of the high value of this item, an export licence will be required to ship this item outside of the United Kingdom. This process will add an extra 2-4 weeks onto the shipment time. Thank you for your understanding.
