Le Jeton - Antique Chinese Game Counter Pendant with Raw Diamond
About the Item
The shells were ground flat, shaped, polished and engraved - all nearly 300 years ago, and all by hand! The particular large mollusk that provided these large flat shells was hunted to extinction to supply this trade.
This beautiful and delicately carved Chinese gaming counter has found a new life as the centerpiece of an equally delicate necklace of raw grey diamonds and freshwater baroque pearls. Safely suspended in a twist wire frame of 14k gold, this pendant is completely reversible and just as beautiful on the opposing side as the monogrammed side. Diamond chain and clasp are 24k gold vermeil. A very small “flea bite” near the bottom of the reverse side which is indicative of age and use can be seen, but does not diminish the beauty of these unique re-purposed counters.
