Maison Gripoix 1930s Art Deco Multi-Coloured Bead and Rhinestone Vintage Flapper

About the Item

This rare and important example of the work of Maison Gripoix was created in the 1930s. Condition Report: Very Good - There are some tiny elements of scuffing/crazing to the surface of a couple of the glass cubes. However, this is only visible upon really close inspection and is in no way detrimental to the appeal of the necklace. The Details... This necklace is detailed with clusters of multi-coloured, teardrop shaped, glass beads. It also features 6 green and red glass cubes. There are also round, colourless rhinestones individually attached to the necklace chain in claw set cups. The necklace is also detailed with multi-faceted black glass bead and metal rondelle beads. The necklace measures approximately 70cm. A Short History... It is exceptionally rare to find an early piece created by the legendary French poured glass makers, Maison Gripoix. However, this necklace was certainly created by the house in the 1930s. A highly similar example with near identical beadwork and findings features in the book 'Fashion Jewelry - The Collection of Barbara Berger' and is attributed to Gripoix in the 1930s. Wear it With... This necklace looks classic and elegant paired with a deep black roll neck knit.
