About the Item

Stunning one-of-a-kind necklace made with high-quality deep blue Afghan lapis lazuli nuggets with inclusions of gold pyrite and high-quality Brazilian black tourmaline (Schorl). The size of the nuggets varies from 25mm x 20mm to 15mm x 12mm. Authentic, natural color. No thermal or other treatments were used. The nuggets are old. Each nugget was cut and polished by hand. Even holes in the nuggets were drilled by hand. Therefore, each nugget is not ideal but perfect at the same time. The nuggets connect natural tiny faceted gold pyrite beads and are finished with a gorgeous detailed sterling silver clasp with a cabochon of natural lapis lazuli. This is a necklace handcrafted in the USA by Noblesse Oblige Studio. The length of the necklace is 20 inches (50.8 cm). The weight of the necklace is 140 grams. Historians believe the link between humans and lapis lazuli stretches back more than 6,500 years. The gem was treasured by the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Greece, and Rome. They valued it for its vivid, exquisite color, and prized it as much as they prized other blue gems like sapphire and turquoise. Badakshan, a province in present-day Afghanistan, is a forbidding wasteland of mountains, bare of any vegetation. The sheer mountain faces rise as high as 17,000 feet and are scored with treacherous ravines. Humans make their way there to seek one thing only: the azure treasure that is fine lapis lazuli. The same was true as far back as 700 BC when the region was part of a country known as Bactria. The Lapis Lazuli mines that were produced then are still produced today. They are, in fact, the world’s oldest known commercial gemstone sources. Schorl is the most common form of Tourmaline. It may be highly lustrous and form in beautiful crystals and is one of the most aesthetic black minerals known. It may form in tiny dense needles within a Quartz crystal where it is known as Tourmalinated Quartz. Lapis lazuli carries the energy of the sky. The stone gives a person peace and balance, helps to achieve enlightenment, gain energy and strength, overcome stress, and achieve harmony. Even a short contact with the gem helps to restore strength. To do this, you just need to hold a blue stone in your hands.
