Contemporary Emerald Diamond Floret Collar Necklace

About the Item

Emerald’s beautiful green color has captivated, soothed, and excited since the times of Cleopatra. The Queen of Ancient Egypt loved using the stones for lavish jewelry, and also considered the verdant gemstones sacred symbols of fertility and immortality. Emerald, known as the “Jewel of Kings” signifies abundance, prosperity, and growth within all aspects of life. Rare and beautiful, emerald's stunning green color has also brought it an honored status amongst cultures worldwide. Crafted in 18K white gold, this courtly Emerald Diamond Collar Necklace is a modern heirloom in the making, worthy of your own regal collection. The wonderfully sparkling 16.75 inch long (42.55 cm) collar necklace features 5 oval-shape faceted emeralds with an estimated total weight of 14.00 carats, and 198 round and pear-shape diamonds with an estimated total weight of 23.00 carats. The diamonds are equivalent to F-H color and VS-SI clarity. The weight of the necklace is 45.65 grams. Each oval emerald is oriented vertically, set with 4 prongs, and surrounded with a stately diamond halo comprised of 10 round brilliant-cuts and 2 pear shapes. The white diamonds serve to enrich the green of the emerald by contrast and provide a wholly elegant presentation of sparkle. The pear shape diamonds, arranged at east and west of the emeralds within the halo, point outwards and become part of 6 secondary diamond florette motifs each composed of 7 round brilliant-cut diamonds. The secondary florette motif flanks each emerald and elegantly transitions to the all-diamond chain. A modified smaller version of this sparkling diamond cluster is repeated as a third motif 8 times in the chain, each identically comprised of 2 pear shape diamonds and 2 rounds, suggesting an abstracted flower. The hidden push clasp is dotted with rounds, keeping the beautiful flow of diamonds all around the neck. Only two cuts of diamonds compose this harmonious, well-designed collar necklace and adorn the emeralds so beautifully, specifically 170 round diamonds weighing an estimated 17.50 carats total, and 28 pear-shaped diamonds weighing an estimated 5.50 carats total. The pear shape diamond, with its quintessentially feminine curves and elegant silhouette, lends itself beautifully to floral motifs. Pear shaped diamonds combine the marquise cut and the oval cut to create a dazzling shape with 58 facets of brilliance. In this piece they offer just the right amount of softness to the stark lines of the minimalist design. Measures approx. 16.75” in length. 5 oval emeralds weigh approximately 14 carats total. Emeralds are estimated as Zambian. Diamond weight approx. 23.00 carats total, estimated F-G-H colors, VS-SI clarity. Overall weight approx. 45.65 grams, made in 18k white gold. Circa 2000s.

  • Contemporary Diamond Festoon Collar Necklace
    Located in New York, NY
The defining flourish of a festoon necklace is the drama of its swag, opulently undulating and accenting the collarbones in radiant sparkle. Festooning has been used since ancient times, with the most recent celebratory example adorning the city of London at the Coronation of King Charles. In classical Greek and Roman architecture, the festoon was a garland of ribbons, flowers, fruit, or foliage draped between two supports, used as decoration and, at times, the symbol of saintliness, glory, or victory. These garlands were also worn on the body--on the head or around the neck to signify honor or celebration, and this tradition was carried forward to the Classical period, the Renaissance, and through to Victorian England, especially as a recurrent motif in paintings and sculpture. The festoon is also a type of necklace that contains several drapes or swags of gemstones, chains, and other sculptural elements as the critical elements of the design. The style became popular during the Georgian period (1714–1830s), carrying over into the Victorian era (1837–1901), and has been revived with many sparkling all-diamond...

  • Bulgari Contemporary Diamond Emerald Parure Suite
    By Bulgari
    Located in New York, NY
It was 1963 in Italy on the set of Cleopatra when Richard Burton famously said, “I introduced Liz to beer, she introduced me to Bulgari,” referring to the film’s iconic star, Elizabeth Taylor. It was even rumored that Ms. Taylor had requested the Italian jewelry house to wait around the set with their latest collection, so she could go shopping in between takes. Founded in 1884 in Rome, Bulgari is known for voluminous forms, signature sunny shades of yellow gold, and vibrantly colored gemstones composed in curvaceous patterns. In the 1920s, however, their high jewelry creations reflected the design of traditional French Maisons, incorporating platinum and diamonds with stylized Art Deco design. This suite, made in Italy during the Contemporary Era, is reminiscent of the geometry of Bulgari’s early style brought into the modern age, with juicy floral patterns featuring a bounty of emeralds - inviting abundance, love, and good fortune to the wearer. Flowers have long been a favorite with the jewelry house, beginning with its en tremblant brooches, created in the 1950s and 1960s as well as with the Fiorever collection today, which draws inspiration from the four-petal flower venerated by the Romans as a symbol of happiness. This exquisite diamond and emerald parure...
