About the Item

We present to your attention a magnificent antique item from the Imperial Russia of the period 1880-1905 — a necklace with a pendant made of unique cloisonné enamel, made in the old Russian style. The author of this masterpiece is the outstanding master of silversmiths, Alexander Karlovich Dalman. Dalman Alexander Karlovich, the owner of a silverware factory, worked from 1880 to 1905. In 1869, he began training with the Master of the Silver Workshop, Fyodor Kvyatkovsky, where he spent five years mastering the basics and wisdom of jewelry making. In February 1881, he submitted a petition to the St. Petersburg Crafts Board to enroll him as a master of silver craft. Sworn masters of the Silver and Braid Workshop tested Alexander Dalman and drew up a report that "he performed the assigned craft lesson well and is worthy of being called a master in the title of silversmith." This is an extremely rare item, preserved to this day in excellent condition without loss of enamel or gilding or any other problems. It is assumed that initially, it could have been part of a buckle and was later transformed into a pendant, which does not in the least detract from its value and beauty. The item has authentic Cyrillic hallmarks: "АД" — the mark of the master Alexander Dalman, 84 — the zolotnik measurement system in Russia, an image of a woman's head in a kokoshnik facing left, and the Cyrillic initials "ЯЛ" in an oval shield — the hallmark of the St. Petersburg Assay Office with the initials of the assay inspector Yakov Lyapunov (1899-1903). Product Dimensions: Necklace length is 17 inches. Pendant dimensions are 2.5 inches at its widest point, 2 inches at its middle point, and 1 inch at its narrowest point. The pendant's height is approximately 1.5 inches. The chain is braided in antique style from sterling silver and is 14K gold filled. This is a true historical masterpiece, a rare and valuable item.

1920s Egyptian Revival Silver Gilt and Enamel Vintage Charms Necklace
Located in Skelmersdale, GB
This beautiful necklace is emblematic of the evocative 1920s Egyptian Revival aesthetic and was made in France. Condition Report: Very Good - A slight kink in the chain and a tiny bend at the base of one of the charms. This is consistent with age and use and does not detract from the appeal of the piece. The Details... Although un-hallmarked, this necklace is most likely constructed from silver gilt. It features a delicate herringbone chain. Suspended from the chain is a selection of Egyptian inspired charms. There are Ankhs, Lotus flowers and Hamsa hand symbols. There are also three postage stamp charms detailed with skiff boats on the Nile and the goddess, Hathor. The necklace fastens with a bolt ring and measures 38cm in length. A Short History... In 1922, Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun and, thereby, ignited a Western fascination with Ancient Egypt which permeated the Arts. Jewellery designers created heavily stylised profiles of people and hieroglyphs taken from tomb walls, as can be seen in this necklace. Reviving Egyptian...
