About the Item

The 1980s saw the rise of a new type of woman: both legs placed firmly in the world of business, the tough career woman was the ideal of the decade. Armed with shoulder pads and pantsuit, she was both practical and stylish. The jewellery of the decade had to play along: it needed to be decorative, but not impractical to wear. Where the 1970s had favoured long, delicate sautoir necklaces, the short collar necklace became the ideal adornment for the new type of woman. The collar necklace at hand combines an unusually large aquamarine with diamonds and two colours of gold. The natural, clear aquamarine in a scissor cut weighs in at an astounding 75.0 ct. Four rows of diamonds flank the large gemstone to its left and right. The quality of the materials has been certified by a renowned independent institute, and the certificate will be delivered with the necklace. The actual chain of the necklace is made up of alternating yellow and white gold elements, sturdy yet elegant. Due to its many movable joints, it glides around the neck smoothly and adjusts to its wearer's decolleté. Its hallmarks tell us that the necklace was made in Italy, one of Europe's centres of fashion, where lots of stylish massive gold jewellery was produced in the 1980s. The strong, dynamic design almost completely foregoes decor in favour of showcasing the quality of its materials. When worn, the vintage necklace is a true statement piece – fit to adorn and accompany a strong, confident woman.
