Antique Dutch 5-Row Red Coral Necklace with 14 Krt Yellow Gold Filigree Closure

About the Item

An antique 5-row natural red coral necklace with filigree 14 karat yellow closure decorated with red coral beads. The closure consists of half-dome element featuring a golden filigree wire and cannetille decoration. In the centre there is one red round coral bead surrounded by fine wiring and further decorated with red oval coral beads set in floral like golden frames. The diameter of the filigree closure is 31 mm. The half-dome element is surrounded by two golden bean-shaped discs decorated with red coral beads and filigree decoration. The red coral beads strung on a necklace are barrel-shaped and their diameter is 6.5 mm and the length is ca. 4-6 mm. The beads slightly differ from each other due to a natural variation. Originally, these kind of necklaces were worn by women in the Dutch province called Zeeland in the late 19th and the early 20th century. Nowadays, they remain a precious and classy jewelry that can be combined with traditional as well as modern styles. The clasp is marked with the oak leaf that is a Dutch mark for the 14 karat /585 gold content. It was also professionally tested for 585/1000 gold/14 karat gold. The necklace is in good antique condition with normal to its old age patina.
