About the Item
An elegant tubogas 18k gold necklace, featuring Old European cut diamonds.
It’s a gorgeous tubogas necklace from the 1940s with the distinctive features of Retro jewelry.
The piece is designed as a linear tubogas cord with two loops on each end. The loops are held by a gold band decorated with diamonds. Each loop has a gold ball set on top. A larger gold and diamond clip placed in the middle of the cord works as a clasp. The diamonds are set in platinum to emphasize their whiteness.
This necklace carries French elegance and chic. The tubogas coils are buttery soft, making the necklace look fluid and sit well on the neck. Wear this stylish piece with a white shirt or a little black dress – either way you will look like a Parisian fashionista.
This tubogas vintage necklace is made of 18 karat yellow gold and set with twenty-three Old European cut diamonds (H-J color, VS clarity, total weight approximately 0.75 carat). The diamonds are set in platinum which accentuates their whiteness.
This French tubogas necklace measures 16” x ¼" (40 x 0.7 cm).
The Retro French necklace weighs 66.4 grams.

About Tubogas Design:
A distinctive aesthetic of Tubogas was obtained from the gas pipes design. Bulgari adopted this look in 1940s with the help of Carlo Weingrill, who contributed his designer’s vision to the cause. As the name implied, the Tubogas style is flexible and adaptable to any jewelry form, from rings to watches.
The actual tubogas technique, which was a plumbing manufacturing process, came from the 19th century. The technique required wrapping metal in tight coils around a central rod that was later removed, allowing to make a hollow chain. In the 1940s this process inspired a few French makers and Bulgari (in collaboration with Weingrill) to massively use this principle in jewelry making.
The Tubogas technique was used for the famous Bulgari watch series called Serpenti. It symbolizes the snake, a widely popular element in ancient Roman culture.
