Antique Art Nouveau Lion Necklace with Diamond and Ruby
About the Item
Strong repousse engraving and fierce definition make our solid ruby eyed lion seem wild, with its flaming mane, yet it is a lion that prefers to bite gems, the proof of which is the .35 ct (approx weight) transitional diamond held in its pointed teeth. Nonetheless, it may keep bad spirits at a distance and make people happy. Created as a brooch of 14 Kt gold c. 1910, we added an 18 Kt gold chain and voila, a necklace to be worn from morning to night. All the engraving is highly defined from the eyebrows, nose, whiskers to its chin. The condition is perfect. It is 1 1/4 inches wide, 7/8ths of an inch high. Weight 14.9 grams
