About the Item
Finely detailed antique Victorian rock crystal necklace (circa 1870s), crafted in 14 karat yellow gold.
Faceted rock crystal drops measure 23mm x 18mm (2) and 26mm x 21mm (1). Small turquoise cabochons measure from 1mm to 4mm. Seed pearls measure 1.5mm each. The stones are in-tact and in good condition. The rock crystal is in good condition and free of cracks or chips.
The bold and beautifully detailed necklace highlights three rock crystal drops that drape from a fine link snake chain. Star set with pearl and turquoise cabochons the rock crystal lights up and shimmers with your every movement. A truly magical necklace that comes with the original burgundy velvet fitted case from the British firm Howell, James & Co. The historic jewelry firm operated in London from 1819 to 1911, known for selling silk along with beautifully crafted jewelry. The necklace is a testament to fine jewelry of the era and is in good condition considering its age (approx. 154 years old!). A distinct and very wearable piece today that makes a stunning statement on the neck! The fitted case is showing wear (and damage) and is currently unhinged and separated (see photo).
The necklace was very lightly cleaned with care taken to preserve the patina and collector value.
