About the Item
"Costis" Seahorse Necklace with an 1.77 carats Natural Blue Zircon on the animal's tail and a 0.10 carats Diamond on its eye.
This piece features Costis' s impeccable Italian craftsmanship, and a black rhodium plating on 18K Yellow Gold. It is accompanied on a black elegant satin cord 80 cm long and matching small seahorse rhodium plated Gold buckle. It is worn through the head.
The Seahorse figure is the emblem of "Costis Fine Jewelry". As its trademark it is internationally registered, and Costis decided to make a piece of jewel out of it.
But what is most remarkable, is the reason why Costis chose it to represent his jewelry. The Seahorse is the only male creature that carries his babies to term, so it is only natural to be considered a symbol for originality. Moreover, the fact that their body surface resembles to armor, and that each one carries its own distinctive “crown”, as unique as the human fingerprint, makes them a synonym for protection and uniqueness. Because of these reasons, as well as how rare it is to actually meet a seahorse, so many artists, even from ancient years, have considered seahorses to be mythical creatures…
So it is only natural, that the Seahorse represents Costis, the male bearer of his "children", the pieces of jewelry, with each one being completely unique, Then, this pieces of jewelry assume a different meaning to every person wearing them.
As mentioned frequently, if there is a word that can describe Costis’ work , this is “different”. Costis loves to observe nature; the sea, the flowers, the animals, the world we live in. These are the forms he re-creates through his jewelry, by enhancing the sculptural element in any object, that we otherwise think of so ordinary. He is intrigued when elevating a simple, everyday item into a piece of art.
