Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Raindrop Bib Necklace 1989, an iconic Bold Gold necklace from the era of the 80's big jewelry trend. Even though this is not a big huge necklace like many that were runway pieces in the 80's, this is a pared down version of a much larger bib. This is made of connecting teardrop shaped castings that hook one into the next and are configured into a classic bib form. The concave dimple in each drop is iconic Morris, with the ultimate organic feeling of drape, luxurious feel and drama. Matte gold plated brass is the usual fare for Morris wildly popular jewelry during his period of acclaim. His collaborations with Donna Karan in the 80's and 90's were very influential to global fashion, and this necklace is a spin-off of a much larger one he did for her runway in the fall of 1989. Cascading down the neck and filling in that powerful section of a woman's body where her collar is open and one sees the jewels gracing the personality of the wearer. Light weight and very easy to wear, this is a classic piece of fashion history and modernism.
