This terrifically elegant necklace is the result of a collaboration between storied Italian glass maker Seguso and Chanel. The Seguso family have been producing glass at Murano, in Venice, since the 14th Century. In the Seventies Archimede Seguso was invited by Chanel to produce a collection of glass jewelry to compliment the brand's fashion collection. A highly collectible range of pieces resulted from this collaboration in alluring color ways and with fascinating gold and rhinestone details. Neckaces made of these tubular glass elements came in many colors with and without diamante accent details, and earrings were produced in a variety of colors and sizes and styles. The necklace has a highly decorative gilt metal clasp and measures a tad over 20" long. The necklace consists of 2 strands of these macaroni like tubular elements, each almost 2" long undulating back and forth like a meandering river. Goldtone beadwork spacers add flexibility to this piece of jewelry which is also a piece of the art of the glassblower. Unsigned but guaranteed Seguso for Chanel.
