The strands are bundled together by the gold barrel shape clasp. The clasp is a true piece of art portraying Buccellati’s best practices. It features ten strands of Mediterranean coral connected with a diamond and an 18 karat yellow and white gold clasp. The necklace has a lot of volume and can be worn with the clasp either on the back (more casual look) or on front/side (dressier look). It can be also worn as a bracelet. The coral beads measure from 5.5 - 4.6 mm to 2.9 - 2.4 mm. The vintage necklace measures 24" x ¾” (60 x 2 cm). The clasp measures 1-1/8" x 1" (3 x 2.5 cm). The necklace measures 158.5 grams. It is stamped with Mario Buccellati maker's mark, hallmark for 18 karat gold and country of manufacture. Mario Buccellati (1891-1965) established the first brand’s store in Milan in 1919. He was titled “the Prince of Goldsmiths” by poet Gabriele D’Annunzio because of an extraordinary ability to turn gold and silver into luxury art objects. This ability through the years has been the core of Buccellati’s style. Buccellati design is highly recognizable due to multiple engraving and piercing techniques applied to the pieces.
