THIS IS A MAGNIFICENT ANTIQUE NAVAJO NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN CORN MOTIF SQUASH BLOSSOM NECKLACE WITH TURQUOISE, CORAL, BLACK ONYX AND MOTHER OF PEARL, DATING TO CIRCA 1930. THE NECKLACE IS A MUSEUM QUALITY PIECE AND IS EXTREMELY RARE.
THE EARLY NECKLACE DATES TO CIRCA 1930.
The necklace features five magnificent corn motif blossoms. The corn blossoms are set with turquoise, coral, black onyx and mother-of-pearl. At the bottom hangs a naja with a corn blossom in the center. The necklace is hand made with extraordinary artisanship. The silver beads are exquisite.
Corn motif necklaces are exceedingly rare. This is an extraordinary example with gorgeous design, sublime artistry, wonderful color combination of gems, and superb silver beads and silver hand stamped designs throughout. The necklace exudes the magnificent spirit of the Navajo and is full of beauty, grace and style. The necklace is an early Native jewel dating to circa 1930.
Provenance: The necklace comes from the private collection of one of the major Southwest Native American collectors.
The necklace portion is 24 inches long.
The central corn and naja pendant portion is 4.5 inches long.
The necklace weighs 184 grams.
The connections to the clasp at the back have been replaced.
The central corn blossom is 2 3/4 inches in length. The side corn blossoms are 2 1/2 inches long.
