About the Item

A stunning antique Russian 0.22 carat ruby and 0.22 carat sapphire, 0.04 carat diamond and white enamel, 14 karat rose gold locket; part of our diverse antique jewelry and estate jewelry collections. This stunning, fine and impressive antique locket has been crafted in 14k rose gold with 14k yellow gold decoration. The anterior face of this hinged locket is embellished with a white guilloché enamel decoration. The enamel background is ornamented with a 14k yellow gold tied rope twist decoration The tied rope decoration has two 'tassels', the lower border of each ornamented with a single Dutch cut diamond and a pear cut gemstone; one ruby and one sapphire, all bezel set. The 14k rose gold posterior face is plain and unembellished, struck with the Russian hallmark for 14k gold, or 56 zolotniks (56 female profile). The hinged locket opens to reveal two push fit glass panels, in which a personal memento or photograph may be displayed. The locket suspends from a contemporary 18k yellow gold 16" fine curb chain via an oval ring loop attachment to the upper border of the design, securing with a conventional spring loaded bolt ring fastening. The locket is fitted to the original hinged blue velvet and satin lined push fit presentation case, bearing the retailer's name to the interior of the cover 'TIXIER, DESCHAMPS SUCS, 19et20 PALAIS ROYAL'. This antique Russian locket is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card. Condition This stunning antique gemstone locket is exceptional quality set with old cut diamonds and an impressive ruby and sapphire. The locket is an exceptional gauge of gold and is in excellent condition, with partially worn Russian hallmarks, in keeping with age and location. The exceptional yellow gold locket has an oval form, embellished with impressive embossed and chased Burmese style decoration to the domed anterior and posterior covers. The ornamentation to the anterior surface depicts the figure of Krishna* playing the flute, positioned next to a calf, and surrounded by intricate floral motifs. The posterior face of the locket bears the figure of Saraswati** playing a Saraswati veena, with a swan in the foreground of the image and floral motifs encircling the figure. The yellow gold border of the locket is plain and unembellished. This hinged locket opens to reveal two windows, allowing for a personal memento to be stored within.
