Ancient Roman 1st Century BC Cybele Chariot Lions Coin Diamond 18K Gold Pendant

About the Item

A rare and authentic silver "denarius" from the days of the Roman Republic, 78 BC, depicts the goddess Cybele driving a chariot pulled by 2 lions. Cybele, also known as Magna Mater or the Great Mother, was an ancient Anatolian goddess whose worship spread throughout the Roman Empire. She was associated with fertility, nature, and the protection of cities and their inhabitants. Cybele was often depicted riding a chariot drawn by lions, which became one of her most iconic symbols. The lions represented her authority and protection, as well as her connection to the wild and untamed aspects of nature. This seldom seen coin is set in an ancient-inspired line textured bezel with a 1.8 mm VS1 diamond below. This piece is sent with a laminate lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The handmade 18K hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Truly unique and historic!

An interesting, authentic, silver denarius coin from the period of the Roman Republic in 79 BCE, featuring a griffin leaping, is set in a Steven Battelle ancient inspired handmade matte-finish textured bezel mount with 1.8mm VS1 diamond accent. The denarius was approximately the daily wage of a soldier in ancient Rome. This particular type of coin is known as a denarius serratus. The ragged edges of the coin are intentional (all coins of this type have them) to show that coin is pure silver. The minting of the coins was an annual office shared by 3 men, and they often placed the family name on the coins. This coin was minted by moneyer L. Papius, who was probably from Lanuvium, which was about 19 miles outside of Rome. The reverse side of the coin displays...
