The imagery of this ancient Roman Bronze pendant is extremely rare and wonderful with the cast bronze head of Bacchus or Dionysos wearing his headdress with his ivy wreath. The head of Bacchus or Dionysos dates from the ancient classical Roman period, circa the 2nd century AD (200 AD). The pendant features an exquisite cast bronze head of the God of wine, pleasure, and festivity. The patina on the head is very fine. The face of Bacchus has wonderful expression, eyes with fabulous eyelashes, and a charming nose and mouth. His hair is adorned with Bacchus' crown of ivy. The intricate details and fine quality casting of the pendant showcase the skill of ancient Roman craftsmen. The patina on the pendant is exquisite. The bale is a later bale in 14 Karat Gold. DIONYSOS (Dionysus) or BACCHUS was the Olympian god of wine, pleasure, festivity, and wild frenzy. His attributes included the thyrsos (a pine-cone tipped staff), a drinking cup and a crown of ivy.
