This is an exceptionally fine antique Victorian era cameo brooch pendant! If you are a fan or collector of cameos then you will know how hard these finer carvings are to find
A very nicely carved bullmouth shell cameo depicting a Bacchante housed in a 15kt yellow gold frame.
A popular subject matter, it is always a pleasure to find fine cameos, a Bacchante is a priestess or follower of Bacchus or Dionysus was the god of wine and represented amongst other things, fertility, festivities and theatre.
It has an old c type clasp and pin fastener and a smooth 15kt yellow gold frame, it can be worn as a brooch or a pendant and is a food sized brooch.
This brooch is all about the fine carving and what a mesmerising carving she is!
