Antique Victorian Swivel Fob Locket pendant, 9k gold, Onyx J and cameo
About the Item
This antique swivel fob hide a great little feature, it is not just a swivel fob or even a pendant it is also a locket.
This little piece really is ticking off all the boxes!
An unusual and interesting Victorian piece, almost certainly commissioned as it bears the initial J in gothic script on one side in Onyx and features a classic cameo of a bearded gentleman on the other side.
It is a swivel fob so each side can be flipped over but it does not 'lock' into place.
The fob can be opened up on a tiny hinge to reveal to locket compartments with glazed covers, perfect for hiding tiny keepsakes or photos.
It has a fine ornate bloomed gold frame and an integral pendant loop or bale.
Marks and era:
Unmarked electronically tests as 9ct gold with a gilt finish, Victorian era, c1880s
Condition:
Fair used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some of the corners of the ornate Frame are missing, snapped off, the hinge is very delicate, the swivel action does not lock or clip onto place but it does not appear to have ever done so.
