Art Deco Opal Ruby Spider and Fly Insect Pendant Gold Necklace
About the Item
A stunning and rare antique Art Deco Spider and Fly Pendant set with gorgeous Opal gems and Ruby eyes in 10 Karat Gold. The extraordinary pendant has the most fabulous Opals. The spider is set with two oval opal gems in the body and with two round ruby eyes. The opals are set in milgrain beaded borders. The sparkling fly is set with two gorgeous pear shape opals with incredible fire and color. The jewels are set in 10 Carat Gold. It is very rare to find these early insect jewels set with opals and they are an absolute treasure. The spider and fly date to the Victorian - Art Deco period when insect inspired jewelry was sweeping the land. This whimsical pair dance delightfully around the neck and create a conversation piece to be passed on for generations. And insect inspired jewels are all the rage today. The spider and fly date to circa 1890 - 1930.
The spider and fly pendant is 2.5 inches (6.5cm) long. The spider is 7/8 inch (23mm) long and 5/8 inch (18mm) wide.
The pendant is 10 Karat Gold.
