Belle Époque Necklace St. James Scallop Shell Metall Purple Rose Coloured Enamel
About the Item
This kind of shell, the scallop is associated with the pilgrimage to Santiago di Compostela and is often worn by pilgrims who have followed the way of St. James to Santiago di Copostela. The purplee shell is mounted onto a delicate necklace dating to the first decade of the 20th century. The necklace is composed of elongated oval links. There are six larger elements decorated with rose colour enamel on both sides and 29 small elements decorated with purple enamel on both sides . the links that join the chain to the shell are embellished with two purple rose coloured beads.
