Castellani Amethyst Diamond Silver Gold Cross Pendant
About the Item
Amethyst and Diamond Cross Pendant with Eleven square 5mm amethyst set individually. There are 12 round diamonds weighing 1/3ct color: H and clarity VS1. The amethyst are set into oxidized silver and the diamonds into 18kt oxidized 18kt yellow gold. The bale is wide enough to accompany a 5.5mm width chain or narrower. A chain is not included.
The measurements are 2.4” length and 2” width (61mm length 50.8mm width). The Castellani and Double C name plates are in 18kt yellow and affixed to the side gallery.
Castellani’s Jewellery from the 19th Century is in museums:
British Museum; Victoria & Albert Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art; The Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Museum to name a few); exhibitions as well as in private collections.
Fortunato Pio Castellani can be called the "Father of Archeological Revival Jewellery". In the mid 1800's in Rome, Castellani had the entree to visit the Ancient Etruscan ruins. He was able to study these Ancient designs as well as other Ancient Mediterranean civilizations’ jewellery and started to create and re-design under his brand.
