Early 20th Century Cloverleaf 14K Gold Pearl Pendant
About the Item
An early 20th century pendant created of 14 karat gold and set with a pearl. The pendant has a cloverleaf shape and is embellished with a pearl. Each side has a different decor of ornaments, one side is set with three-dimensional diamond-shaped figures and the other side has three dome-shaped groove rounds. The dangling pearl below the top swings freely.
This kind of jewelry was worn as accessories for headdresses and were hooked into a loop in the bottom of the hat and hung along the cheeks in the front strip of the corned hat. The pendants were part of the regional costume in the Netherlands in 19th and early 20th century.
The pendant is in good condition and of high quality. The pearl is a little discolored on one side. The pendant measures 5.5 centimeters in length, 4.4 centimeters wide and weighs 4.93 grams.
