About the Item

Edwardian enamelled four-leaf Clover convertible brooch. An extremely beautiful piece, created in America during the Edwardian and the Art Nouveau periods, back in the 1900-1910. This outstanding multi purpose pendant-brooch has been carefully crafted in the shape of a four-leaf clover in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The clover's leafs are embellished with applications of powder non-glossy hot enamel, with greens colors gradations. The enamel work is exceptional and meticulous, far exceeding the details of the fibers and veins of the leaves. It is a little jewel with exquisite and exceptional details, Flowers symbolize a hope that love should not be forgotten. Fitted at the reverse with a 14kt gold horizontal hinged pin bar with a mechanical lock to wear as a brooch, a retractable swivel ring to wear as a pendant in a chain and an optional hook to hang a small watch. Diamonds: The steam and the tips of the leaves are mounted in a six-prongs and flush settings, with 32 calibrated old European rose cut diamonds, with a combined weight of 1.02 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2/SI-1 clarity. Weight: 7.40 Grams (4.74 Dwt). Measurements: 31 mm by 30 mm by 6 mm (1.22 x 1.18 x 0.23 Inches). Hallmarks: The main body has been electronically tested for 18 karats gold. The lock is stamped with the maker's mark and the mark for the assay of the gold, 14kt. Edwardian Jewelry The Edwardian Jewelry Period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era jewelry pieces tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the pieces were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these jewelry pieces is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for. Four-Leaf Clover Closeup of a 4 leaf clover The four-leaf clover is a rare variation of the common three-leaf clover. According to traditional sayings, such clovers bring good luck, though it is not clear when or how this idea began. One early mention of "Fower-leafed or purple grasse" is from 1640 and simply says that it was kept in gardens because it was "good for the purples in children or others". The symbolism Behind a rare four-leaf Clover Pendant is said to bring luck to whoever finds one. The four leaves symbolize faith, hope, love, and success.
