Edwardian Diamond Set Cross
About the Item
An Edwardian diamond set cross pendant, the seven principal old-cut diamonds each set in square collets to a smaller old-cut diamond set surround estimated to weigh a total of 4.2 carats, all millegrain set in openwork platinum mount with scroll design arms and diamond set pendant loop, on a platinum chain circa 1915, later hallmarked platinum London, measuring approximately 5.7cm long 3.9cm wide, gross weight 13.4 grams.
This fine cross pendant comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This pendant is in the shape of a stylised and ornate cross, set throughout with glittering diamonds. This piece features fine openwork platinum, a material which became popular in the early twentieth century for its strength and ability to form intricate and delicate shapes. This cross is suspended from a platinum chain, which complements this lovely piece wonderfully.
This antique cross pendant is in excellent condition for its age.
