Georgian 18 Karat Gold Amethyst Pearl Granulated Pendant or Brooch
About the Item
A beautifully granulated pale amethyst and 18 kt gold pendant or brooch that is set with four natural pearls around the center stone. The gems are closed in the back and foiled. The gold does not overpower the amethysts and the granulation gives the jewel delightful texture. Though dainty it is not too delicate for a gent to wear on his jacket. Surrounding the prongs on all amethysts is tiny granulation. Georgian jewelers did not spare the handwork. A beautiful pendant or brooch from c. 1820 and in excellent condition. 29mm high, 28mm wide, 4.7 grams
