Large Honey Amber Pendant 925 Silver Southwestern Necklace Earring Set

About the Item

Southwestern style, large honey amber pendant (1.375" x 1.74") inlayed into sterling silver on beaded necklace of Arizona turquoise, natural stone, glass, with both dark metal and sterling silver beads. Lobster clasp. Matching earrings are made of silver leverback ear wires with seashell detail. Glass seed beads with turquoise, butterscotch amber, and glass faceted bead. This is possibly Native American and it looks like it could be either Navajo, Zuni, or Hopi in origin. Based on the color and the black in the turquoise, it looks like at least the turquoise beads originated in Arizona., implying a possible link to Hopi. In Native American cultures, amber is considered precious and has the ability to help connect with the spiritual world. As I learned and researched the materials of this necklace, I realized how special it must have been to the original wearer. How did I find it? I found it amongst a backdrop of costume jewelry, but when I saw the silver mark, it piqued my curiosity. I didn't know what it was when I found it. Growing up, my family took a lot of roadtrips throughout the Southwestern United States, so I am familiar with the style, even though I am still learning about it. I at least had a clue. The inclusions in this amber are particularly interesting and seem to bloom like the disk-like mushrooms that I have seen growing on trees in the forest.
