Paul Amey 18K Yellow and White Gold, Diamond and Pearl Fantail Goldfish Pendant
About the Item
Paul Amey’s Fantail Goldfish pendant was crafted from 18K yellow and white gold with mother of pearl, diamonds and hard enamel.
Paul hand carved the oval base out of mother of pearl creating a “fluid” background for the stylized fantail goldfish. Hand carved and finished with raised white gold trim to the fins to simulate the movement of water over a mother of pearl backdrop representing the flow of water over the goldfish and highlighted with Paul’s signature texture. The goldfish was enamelled with orange hard glass enamel (Note: not acrylic). The mother of pearl is encrusted with a combination of white and natural red cognac Argyle-type diamonds, hand selected for their distinctive red hues.
Around the outer edge a fine ribbon of 18K yellow gold secures the mother of pearl and is trimmed with white and yellow gold ribbons to symbolise the surface of the water. The 7.5mm x 6.5mm and 5mm x 6mm Keshi pearls and a 3mm cultured pearl represent flotsam.
There are a variety of diamonds being a 20pt round brilliant white diamond, three 8pt, a 5pt, seven 3pt, six 2pt and seven 1pt round brilliant white diamonds, principally chenier set around the frame and embedded in the mother of pearl. Along with six natural red cognac diamonds equalling 20pts, largely embedded in the mother of pearl. Also featured are a 40pt green colour enhanced princess cut natural diamond that is claw set and a 4pt princess cut white diamond that is claw set amongst the scroll swirls of the wire. Of the above described diamonds, 17 diamonds have been embedded in the mother of pearl, 8 are attached to the fish with 11 in the scroll at the top.
This is a totally unique and completely handcrafted sculpture created by Paul Amey. Total dimensions of the piece are 70mm x 54mm. The total weight of the pendant is 35.4 grams.
The Fantail Goldfish Pendant was designed and hand crafted by multi award-winning jeweller Paul Amey in Australia. Stamped with his registered makers mark and precious metal marks. The Fantail Goldfish was designed and completed with over 140 hours labour and finished in April 2014. All components are masterfully handcrafted by Paul Amey with no casting or 3D imaging used. Diamond and stone settings were all carried out by Paul Amey.

Paul Amey Jeweller
PAUL AMEY is an ARTIST, DESIGNER, MASTER GOLDSMITH and a fellow of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. Paul Amey was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia with one grandfather a watchmaker, the other a jeweller. Jewellery was obviously in his blood! Paul has been a designer and manufacturing jeweller for over 50 years and is well renowned for his work in creating and producing beautiful high-quality jewellery with a dramatic flair completely by hand. Paul is still passionate about designing and producing special pieces. “I have fun with jewellery and so should customers - I give people choices they don’t get from other jewellers.” Paul has seen a great number of design changes and influences come and go, but he says “the fundamentals have always remained the same skilful design, excellent craftsmanship and an attention to detail.” Like the masters of old, using time-honoured techniques, he is creating modern masterpieces. “Each custom piece is crafted completely by hand, no computers, no mass production.
