Rare Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Pendant circa 1700 14 Karat Gold Dutch Necklace
About the Item
This is a rare museum quality early Rose Cut Diamond Pendant dating to the Georgian Era set with an abundance of antique Rose Cut Diamonds set in silver atop 14 Karat gold as was the custom of the period. The pendant of great beauty and dating to the 1700s.
Diamonds were all the rage in the Georgian period and this is a wonderful example. Early pieces such as this are extremely difficult to find. This one is so immensely wearable as the size is just perfect for wearing either day or night. It has stunning period character and style.
The pendant is 68 mm (2 3/4 inches) long from the top of the bale to the bottom of the pendant. Without the bale it is 58 mm long. It is 45 mm (1 3/4 inches) wide at the widest point.
The rose cut diamonds are set in silver collets atop 14 Karat gold.
The gold bale is a later addition.
There has been some restoration of the pendant as is visible from the back - this is very typical of the early Georgian jewels and actually helps to authentic the age of the jewel - it does not detract from the piece in any way.
The pendant weighs 12.4 grams.

- Condition:Repaired: The repairs are very early, dating to the 18th or 19th Century. Wear consistent with age and use.
