About the Item

This rare pendant features an authentic Roman gold aureus, struck in Rome circa AD 73, during the Flavian dynasty, when Domitian held the title of Caesar under his father, Emperor Vespasian. Comes with pictured 14k chain. The obverse presents a detailed laureate portrait of Domitian, while the reverse depicts the future emperor mounted on horseback — extending his right hand in command and holding a scepter. This dynamic, equestrian reverse is highly uncommon and symbolizes imperial authority and military strength. The coin is set in a custom 18k yellow gold bezel, meticulously handcrafted to follow the coin’s natural contours. The setting was forged, fitted, and polished without the use of glue or mechanical pressure, preserving the full integrity of the coin. The bail is proportioned for refined gold chains and discreetly hallmarked. After a thorough market search, we have found no other known example of this specific aureus type set in jewelry — making this pendant truly one-of-a-kind.
