Two-Piece 18K Gold & 14mm Baroque Tahitian Pearl Pendant on Apatite/Iolite Chain
About the Item
Our favorite type of pearl in one of our favorite pendant designs.
This is a gorgeous, drop-shaped Tahitian cultured pearl measuring 14mm wide (and over 18mm long), purchased from our Big Pearl Guy, George Hajjar at Seven Seas Pearls in downtown Los Angeles. Mr. Hajjar deals only with Tahitian, South Sea and Akoya pearls -- no freshwater pearls and no Chinese pearls -- and he deals directly with the pearl farmers, so we always know we're getting the real thing.
With the distinctive black undertone and pink/blue overtones of Tahitian pearls this pearl also boasts a graceful drop shape and overall smooth skin. Flaws are limited to a few light spots and a nice pattern of ridges (aka circles) up and down the pearl's surface.
The pendant is one of Eytan Brandes' staple designs: a Byzantine-flavored, two-part slider with linked cap in rich, unmistakeable 18 karat yellow gold. The finish is a shimmery matte that pops against (rather than competing with) the glassy luster of the pearl.
The total pendant length is 1-1/2" (40mm). The bale is nicely oversized (with interior dimensions of 4.5mm x 8.5mm) to accommodate most chain hardware. We're including a necklace, specially created for this pendant, of faceted dark blue iolites and silvery green apatites. This necklace is 16.5" long and has a 14 karat yellow gold lobster clasp.
(As with most of our pendants, you don't have to buy the chain if you don't want it. And if you'd like us to source a different chain for you, we're happy to do so. Please just send us a message and we'll give you options and adjusted pricing.
The pendant weighs 9.9 grams and the chain weighs 12.5 grams for a total necklace weight of 22.4 grams. The 18 karat gold weight is 5.5 grams.
