About the Item

About the Ancient Coin The obverse side of the coin depicts Vejovis, the Roman god of healing. A relatively obscure deity, he was believed to be one of the first gods born. Although he was first associated with volcanic eruptions, goats were sacrificed in his name to avert plagues, thought to come from the underworld. His name is often associated with the god Jupiter. The reverse side of the coin depicts two seated lares, ancestral spirits of the dead which became divine and observed, influenced and protected all that happened around them. The lares are seen here with a dog standing between them. The coin itself dates back to 112-111 BC and is set in a custom-designed 18 carat gold pendant made from completely recycled materials. A sapphire is set just below the bail on one side. Approximate Size The length of the pendant is 45 millimetres (including the bail), and the width is 25 millimetres. The Pantheon Collection Zeus.
