Jill Garber Nineteenth Century Porcelain Portrait of Christ Bolo with Turquoise

About the Item

This divine legacy Bolo features the most exquisitely rendered antique nineteenth century miniature portrait of Christ. A rare Museum Quality portrait, it measures a statuesque 3.50" x 2.75". The perfectly fitted hand set bezel mounting is surrounded with 27 - 8 mm round Royston turquoise cabochons in the most beautiful shade of blue green. Our finely tuned Bolo mechanisms are hand made in sterling silver - with a smooth, snug fit, they are easy to adjust without damaging the handsome woven black leather bolo tie. As with everything we create our heavyweight Bolo tips are designed and hand crafted for each necklace with lovely variables to the designs. The overall length of this one of a kind Baroque inspired Bolo necklace is 23" - determined to be a perfect fit for everyone, though we are happy to assist with custom sizing if needed. Historically, miniatures were first painted to decorate and illustrate hand-written books. The word 'miniature' comes from the Latin word 'miniare'. From the 1460s these hand-written books began to have to compete with printed books. Simultaneously, wealthy patrons demanded a wider range of luxury goods. The miniaturists continued to illustrate expensive books, but also began to create other items from miniatures for their wealthy independent patrons. Some were for private worship, others simply desirable objects. Portrait miniatures first appeared in the 1520s at the French and English courts. Like medals, they were portable, and had very beautifully appealing color. • Antique nineteenth century museum quality miniature porcelain Portrait of Jesus Christ • The porcelain portrait measures 3.50" x 2.75" • Overall Bolo size including turquoise measures 4.50" x 4" • Framed with 27 - 8 mm round hand bezel set Royston turquoise cabochons • Custom crafted Bolo mechanism in Sterling Silver • Black Leather woven bolo with overall length 23" • Handcrafted in sterling silver with signature studio patina • One of a kind Jill Garber bolo • Hallmarked JG • Size adjustments are always provided as our courtesy Jill Garber’s Collection jewelry begins with antiquities and original ornamentation uniquely designed into timeless works of art.
