Birmingham England Edward Smith Sterling Silver Trinket/Snuff Box

About the Item

Sterling silver box by Edward Smith of Birmingham, England, circa 1828. No monogram. Beautiful small rectangular box featuring an etched design on the hinged lid. A less ornate etched floral design is on the bottom of the box. Gold washed interior. Box measures approx 2 3/8" wide, 1 3/8" long, 3/8" deep. Weighs approx 36.4g, 23.4dwt Marked on the lid: duty mark (King George IV, 1822-33), ES (Edward Smith mark used 1827-65) lion. Marked on the interior bottom: anchor (Birmingham city mark), ES (Edward Smith mark used 1827-65) E (date mark for 1828). Very nice vintage condition with minor surface scratching and tarnish. Item will be packaged securely and shipped with insurance.
