About the Item
An elegant and amusing little minaudière recalling the elegance and fashion of the 1930's. Diamond sprinkled butterflies on the cover open at the hinge to reveal numerous compartments: a perfume dispenser, lipstick, a comb receptacle, a square space for powder, and a rectangular area for cigarettes. There's even a dual mirror at the top. French marks throughout, for silver and pink gold. French maker's mark HM. It's not signed Boucheron but it certainly is made in the style of the venerable French firm. Weighs 18.6 oz (331.2 dwt, 515 grams), measures 5" x 3.5" x 3/4", and we cannot decide if we like the looks of it better open or closed - we love it both ways. Perhaps not the most practical thing to carry about in one's purse these days, but certainly a lovely object to show off on a desk. Twelve round diamonds sprinkled throughout on the cover total about 1.25 carats. An unnecessary object?- of course it is. And that's why we love it, and why it's actually so necessary.
