Pair of Krementz Art Deco Red Enamel & Sterling Silver Lorgnette Reading Glasses

About the Item

A fine pair of signed Art Deco period reading glasses. In sterling silver and decorated with red enamel to the case. Made by Frank Krementz. Retailed by Lugene Opticians in New York in the 1920s or 30s. With a spring-action release to the side, the glasses open and unfold. Together with its leather case stamped Lugene Inc. / New York. Simply a wonderful pair of Deco period glasses! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: With some minor losses in the enamel and scratches throughout. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear and other signs of light wear consistent with age. The spring action is robust and the glasses are still functional. Fineness: Stamped Sterling for silver fineness. Marks: Struck the interior of the rim of the glasses with Sterling and with a conjoined F & K with the F reversed for Frank Krementz. The leather case is stamped Lugene Inc. / New York. Measurements: Case: Length: ca. 2 7/8 in. Width: ca. 1/2 in. Depth: ca. 1/4 in. Glasses: Length: ca. 3 5/8 in. Width: ca. 1/2 in. Depth: ca. 1/8 in.
