Certified True Mutton Fat River Jade Mythical Beast, Certified Nephrite Jade

About the Item

This master piece is certified. This piece is not only a true Mutton Fat white Hetian Jade, it is also carved by a master jade carver. Look at the curves and details, it is out of this world. The lines, the proportions and the depth of field of this jade mythical beast is amazing. It also has superb "hand feel". The rarity of this is of two factors. One is finding the material to carve. Mutton Fat white jade as the name implies it's white. It is also "dense" in milky color like mutton's fat. It is next to impossible to find Jade this white and this dense. And the other factor is that it is carved by the master. Although it is not a signed piece, the workmanship can only be from an experienced master carver. This Mutton Fat Jade material would have only come from the famous river of Hetian in China. The master carver left 3 spots of Jade skin visible, leaving no doubt that this mutton fat jade is river material. This jade piece weighs about 76 grams. The measurements are around 6.3x3x4 cm It is a great piece for investors and connoisseurs looking to collect world class Jade. This will be the center piece of any Jade collection. Please refer to the many high definition photos for more details. We can also provide a HD video. We are 3rd going on 4th generation in the jewelry business. You would expect that many of our items to be described accurately and the real items will look better than any photos we can take. You can buy with confidence. Thank you for your consideration.

White Jade Mythical Beast
By Artistian Made
Located in San Diego, CA
Carved out of white and yellow-toned jade, this beautiful mythical beast rests on its four limbs like a lion in the Serengeti. Each limb is given finely-carved claws and a round pad on the paw. On its head, one can see intricately carved teeth, nostrils, a goatee, and a mythical cloud-like pattern above its eyebrows. Notably, there is a half-dome extrusion representing a third eye positioned between the eyes. Nine ridges of the spine run along the back with finely-carved fur on each side. The three-tipped tail curls up toward the head. Its surface is exceptionally polished with a patina. The bottom of the jade beast has multi-layered ivory-colored inclusions. Historical References: Compare this jade mythical beast to similar 18th century pieces from the Metropolitan Museum in New York. In this 18th century lion and cub, notice the similar shape of ears, hair and ridges along the spine, and the cloud-patterned eyebrows. The distinct ears of our jade beast can also be seen on this 18th century jade beast too. Pictures attached. In addition, please examine this 18th century jade lion...

A Large White and Russet Jade Mythical Beast
By Artistian Made
Located in San Diego, CA
This splendid carving of a recumbent mythical beast is a jade masterwork. The mythical beast raises its head, gazing upward and forward. The beast is poised as though ready for action, its powerful muscular legs supporting its weight. The large, round eyes widen, its eyebrow curving downward. The nose, straight and elongated, features round nostrils for breathing. The mouth opens, revealing well-aligned teeth and an outstretched tongue. The creature’s face exhibits a layered cheek structure, with three tiers of carp gills. A finely incised beard adorns its jaw; under the chin, a meticulously crafted goatee adds to its mystique. Behind the head, three branches of deer horns curve downward, their decorative patterns enhancing the beast’s regal appearance, with elongated tear-shaped ears on each side of the horns. The tail of this mythical creature resembles that of a carp, gracefully curving toward its body. Each foot bears four claws, firmly planted on the ground. In Chinese, deer is pronounce lu, which is also the sound of a word that mean good fortune. Therefore, deer represent success and abundance. Deer also embody grace and gentleness. In folk culture, carp is associated with abundance, prosperity, and good fortune. Taoism regards the carp as a symbol of free-flowing life and constant change, representing the cosmic Tao. The stone is a greyish white color with warm russet veins. Dimensions Length 18 x Width 9.5 x Height 11.5 cm Weight: 4.2 lbs During the Qing Dynasty, specifically the Qianlong period, Emperor QianLong’s passion for jade and antiques led artists to create archaic jade art that revived the artistic heights achieved during the Han Dynasty. One similar example of an archaic Han mythical beast made during the Qianlong period was sold at Sotheby’s. More examples can be seen in the slideshow below (photos G and H). Chinese Antique Qing Carved "Mutton Fat" Nephrite Plaque Pendant Certified
Located in Southbury, CT
Elegant, rare, and dating to the late Qing period (circa 1890s), this hand-carved nearly colorless white nephrite plaque has been etched on both sides. One one, the Chinese mythological figure known as Zhang Guo Lao is depicted riding a mule. On the opposite side, a magpie sits on a branch of cherry blossoms. The magpie is associated with intelligence. The carving is breathlessly simple and excellent; the work executed -of course- without the aid of electricity or modern tools. Measuring 42.54mm x 29.92mm, the plaque has a hole drilled through the center, which is original to the piece. A silver bail is threaded through the hole and a pair of beads -black jade and coral- reside at the bottom. The jade plaque hands from a 1920s silver chain that is 32" in length. Prior to the discovery of and appreciation for the very fine green jadeite from Burma, colorless, opaque, pure white nephrite jade from the Northern mountains of China was the most revered jade; the original "imperial jade, as only members of the royal court could wear or even touch it. Most of what is commercially sold today as "mutton fat...
