About the Item

A lovely miniature vintage porcelain figurine Royal Doulton “Cissie,” HN 1809, decorated in a light pink colorway, was designed by leading Doulton artist Leslie Harradine in the “Harradine – Child Classics” Series. Even the basket of flowers on her arm pales in comparison to Cissie’s charm and beauty. The size of the figurine is approx. 12.7cm tall (5 inches). The figurine is in excellent condition without chips or cracks. Since the early 20th Century, Doulton has been producing figurines, first at Lambeth and then, subsequently, at Burslem. Many of these earlier pieces are now extremely difficult to find and are, accordingly, highly valued by collectors. In a world where old-fashioned values seems to be long gone, a tradition of craftsmanship still lives on in the Royal Doulton studios in which these figures are created. The artists and sculptors, potters, and decorators employ many of the same tried and tested techniques as their predecessors and use only the highest quality materials, such as fine bone china, natural pigments, and deep luster glazes. This is a truly sweet figurine. The figurine would make a wonderful gift for your loved ones or a perfect addition to your collection.

The carving on this cameo is excellent and well-detailed, with good relief. This was carved by an excellent carver, as were most Victorian cameos. This loose cameo...
