Magnificent Hand-Painted Floral Porcelaine Royale Jardinière

About the Item

Magnificent Hand-Painted Floral Porcelaine Royale Jardinière from the collection of Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach This is an extraordinary decorative piece of fine porcelain china and a stunning scalloped shape Jardinière. The piece was first sold at auction as part of a pair from the estate of Ringo Starr and Barabara Bach in 1995. The hand-painted floral design is laced with pink tones interspersed with gold gilt. This fine porcelain is a decorative piece that was also subsequently sold by the family-run Brights of Nettlebed, one of the longest-established classic furniture specialists in the United Kingdom, with showrooms in Oxfordshire and London. Jardinières date back to the 19th Century, where Victorian ladies used flowers as a means of covert communication, where the “Language of Flowers” bloomed alongside a growing interest in botany. Potteries responded with an abundance of fashionable ceramic vessels for use in gardens and conservatories. In elegant homes, ornamental flowerpots and plant stands were called jardinières, for the French word for a female gardener. The jardinière’s nicely scalloped shape highlights this piece, with its hand-painted gold gilt trim botanicals of cream and pink rose hues. An impressive jardinière vase for its size with double handles, which could also be used as a centrepiece, or with champagne flutes nestled in ice or a lovely planter for your favourite orchids. • Incredibly Rare & Exquisite Singing Bird Box Inspired by Charles Bruguier
    Located in London, GB
Incredibly Rare & Exquisite Singing-Bird Box Inspired by Charles Bruguier Inlaid with Gold, Mother-of-Pearl and Enamel 為珍珠、珍珠母和琺瑯鑲嵌的歌鳥盒 For nearly two centuries, miniature singing bird boxes have captivated collectors around the world. With masterpieces being produced by French, German, and Swiss artisans, these delicate and intricately ornate boxes combine the simple eloquence of technological machinery with fantastic artistry. This particular offering is directly inspired by famed Swiss craftsman Charles Bruguier, produced in a rich and vibrant tortoiseshell fascia. The ornate flower petals and nature motif is offset by the vibrant colors and underlying miniaturized bird with an ivory beak and natural feathers. When wound, the front slide opens the bird lid and activates the movement and song of the finely crafted mechanical device. The detailing of the machinery is remarkable, while the pastoral scene adds a sense of old-world charm to any collection. These were highly sought-after pieces of art by nobles and royalty alike as the utility of automata was still in vogue during the 19th century. Charles Bruguier only crafted 27 singing bird boxes a year from his small studio. Although we cannot verify the origin of this particular piece, the matching artwork...

  • 19th Century Grand Tour Souvenirs Palais Royale Gold & Ebony Necessaire
    Located in London, GB
Early 19th Century Grand Tour Souvenirs Palais Royale French Empire Ebonized Fragrance Necessaire with Gold Gilt Bottles & A Sèvres Panel This is truly an important and stunning piece of Objet d'art. This Sèvres style porcelain necessaire/fragrance box dates back to the early 1800s Palais Royale French Empire of Napolean Bonapart I. This would most certainly adorn the highest nobility and aristocrats. In the mid-1800s, the best souvenirs from Paris were found in the boutiques of the famed Palais Royale of Paris, the old palace of Cardinal Richelieu. The boutiques lined the promenade of the central gardens, and the area was host to Royals, dignitaries, and the posh societies of the time. The treasures from the Palais Royale remain today some of the most sought-after antiques to be found. The production of perfumery articles became an industry in the nineteenth century when a new champion emerged, Napoleon Bonaparte, who had a standing order with his perfumer for 50 bottles of cologne a month. In the 18th Century, porcelain was one of the most highly prized commodities in the world. In the 19th Century, the Sèvres factory was well-known for its brilliant bleu céleste ground colour. Sèvres gilding is often finely worked or ‘tooled’ with subtle patterns and has a light touch that is very distinctive. This is a superb example of the 1800s; a gorgeous Palais Royale Sèvres porcelain ebonized wood fragrance box/necessaire, finely crafted with two original blue Opaline scent bottles...
