About the Item
Rare very collectible antique Antique French silver tone with Bresse Enamel Butterfly chatelaine Mesh coin purse featuring applied filigree panela and enamel cabs on top .
Bresse enamel or emaux enamel has a distinctive beauty ,it used to be done in a district of eastern France called Bourg en Bresses .The enameler did not work directly on the finish product ,but created individual plaques in various colors of enamel by building up the surface with separate drop of enamel colors and gold leaf and creating different shapes/patterns , they often added tiny stones on the top to create a rich multi textured effect .
Measures 7 1/2 inches in total drop length . Purse itself is 5 inches x 4 inches max width .
