Antique Victorian Turquoise Ring
About the Item
This antique piece was crafted sometime during the Victorian design period (1840-1900). The 10K rose gold setting is a classic five stone ring with Belcher style prongs. Five cabochon cut turquoise stones ranging in color adorn the top of the shank. Due to turquoise’s porous nature it is known to change color over many decades. This is why some antique turquoise might display greenish hues. During the Victorian era turquoise was immensely popular and often associated with forget me not flowers. In Victorian flower language forget me nots were given as an endearing symbol of true love. Culturally turquoise has a vast history. It was once believed to offer protection, particularly to horses and archers in battle. This ring is currently a size 6 & 3/4.
