Georgian Stuart Crystal Ring in Crystal Gold and Enamel

About the Item

Stuart Crystal Rings such as this were made in the mid 18th century to memorialize the murder of King Charles who was killed in 1649. They are the precursor to memorial rings. There is always a small cypher in the center of the crystal. The crystal is hexagonal. This ring also memorializes a British citizen named Harrison which name in in gold on the band. This person died at age 69. The band is curvaceous. All the enamel is amazingly intact which shows how much the ring was valued by previous owners. If only we knew who they were. At the time this ring was created aristocrats were the only people who owned jewelry. The ring is shown with another ring, a memorial urn. They are glorious together. In excellent condition. Size 6 1/4. It cannot be sized. Weight is 2.5 grams. A beautiful historic jewel. The price below is for the Stuart Crystal only.
