About the Item

Because I collect rare or one-of-a-kind jewels, this does seem like a rather odd piece for me to be offering. A ruby eternity band? That's not exactly rare. A size ten ruby eternity band? Hello, rare. This circa 1940s Retro-era ring is composed of 36 .01 carat rubies that, small though they may be, do appear to my certified professional gemologist's eye to be unheated, untreated rubies and in a color one might associate with Burma (Myanmar). But to make sure we'd have to send this ring to a lab for testing and we're just not going there. These are teeny, tiny rubies. I'm just saying, if you have a loupe and you examine them closely, you'd be pleasantly surprised by how ... nice they are. The .36 carats of rubies (approximate weight, measured in setting) are quite securely mounted within a band of 18K rose gold. The ring is 2.56 mm thick, which is to say it's very thin. It's perfect for stacking or for wearing below a ring that's bothering your finger. This could even be a wedding band for either a man or a woman. It's about the same thickness as a thin wedding band and way more interesting. I own this ring because I, myself, decided I needed a ruby eternity band to wear under my wedding ring. I thought it would be a cinch to find. Eternity bands practically do grow on trees. But not in a size 10 they don't. And it's not like you can buy a size 9 and then have it sized. If you need a size 10, the story ends right there. If I tell you how many hours I spent searching both the internet and the pavement in search of this ring, you would be disturbed. Let's just say, it took me a long time to find it. And once I did, I was like, why did I want to wear a ruby eternity band under my wedding band? It's simple. It's classy. It's rose gold and it's rubies. No lead-glass filling, no modern awfulness. And it's a size 10. No maker's marks.
