About the Item

A natural pink sapphire of 1.90 ct takes centre stage in this glamorous 1950s ring. The gemstone shows an intensely bright colour, cut to oscillate between cool bubblegum pink and fiery reddish pink. Its colours, just like its transparency, are completely natural: the sapphire is untreated, a rarity on today's market. The ring, however, is not merely a vessel for this excellent gemstone, but a wearable work of art in itself. The ring presents the pink sapphire at the centre of a firework-like display, setting it amidst 5.76 ct of diamonds. The arrangement of the 51 diamonds is particularly refined: as all of them are set onto three-dimensional white gold ribbons, facing different directions, heights and angles, the light will meet several at once to ignite a white, fiery sparkle just like a real firework. At any given point, there are always several diamonds set at the perfect angle to the light source. A never-ending play of lights takes place on the finger, drawing the eye to the centre stone again and again. The ring was created in the 1950s as a unique piece and perfectly embodies the glamorous, vibrant aesthetics of the time. Especially the diamond-studded white gold bands, three-dimensionally arranged and of almost informal design, are typical of the period. Since the sculptural ring head is quite large and heavy, an additional clasped shank within the outer shank ensures that it cannot tip to the side when worn. We discovered the ring in Hamburg, Germany. It is in excellent condition and will be delivered with an independent gemological certificate as well as with our house certificate, issued by an art historian.
