About the Item

This spectacular vintage ring, dating to circa 1970, presents an excellent emerald of 3.5 ct weight in its centre. The gemstone is cut in the classic step cut, also known as emerald cut, and shows an intense green colour and beautiful transparency. A little off-centre, we see a slight 'jardin' – French for garden, the poetic term for crystalline emerald inclusions – proving the natural origin of the stone. An entourage of further smaller emeralds and very good quality brilliants frames the large centre stone, further intensifying its vivid colour. All emeralds are set in warm yellow gold – but, as is typical of the 1970s, so are the smaller brilliants. The larger diamonds, the gallery as well as the simple band, however, consist of cool-toned white gold. The ring face, reminiscent of a flower, shows both the opulent influence of Indian jewellery as well as a resemblance to then-contemporary ballerina rings. According to its hallmarks, the ring was made in the Netherlands. It is a beautiful and entirely wearable piece of vintage jewellery, and a great example for the exotic taste of the 1970s. The quality of the stones has been independently certified by a renowned gemological institute. The certificate will be delivered with the ring.
