22.03 Carat Zultanite, Baguette and Diamond Cocktail Ring in Platinum
About the Item
This gorgeous ring is centered around a "phenomenal gem", the unusual crystal known commonly as Zultanite. The phenomenon exhibited in this stone is technically referred to as "selective transmission", but commonly known as "color change". The optical property of "color change is mostly known for being present in stones such as Alexandrite, and rare sapphires. This type of Diospore is exclusively mined in southwestern Turkey at mines that are located at elevations of 4000 feet above sea level, or higher. Add to all of this the fact that a Zultanite of this size and quality is itself rare. The center 22.03ct Zultanite stone is placed in a handmade platinum mounting, generously set with baguette and brilliant cut diamonds, having a total exact weight of 2.32ct and an overall quality of G/H color and VS1 clarity. All exact gem weights, pl for platinum and Rothschilds, for the maker, are stamped inside the ring on a platinum sizing spring which serves to keep the ring design area upright when worn. The mounting is replete with handsome and ornate hand engraved designs on every surface that is not set with diamonds. Ring size is 6 1/2 and gross weight is 20.95 grams.
